ChoiceLocal has a simple mission – Help Others. This is a big reason why we were attracted to work within the IFA and partner exclusively with Franchising. This has also led to ChoiceLocal’s Annual $10K Charity Giveaway.  

The initial winner of the first giveaway was awarded to Tamara Kennedy who selected Second Harvest Heartland to receive this initial gift. One of our team members recently spoke with her and it was really amazing to see the way that the franchise community, in many ways, is built on generosity.  

Kennedy has a seasoned history of excellence within the franchise community, but more importantly, she has a seasoned history of living generously. ChoiceLocal could not be more excited to have had her win the initial ChocieLocal $10K Charity Giveaway and we are looking forward to the next winner at the 2023 IFA Convention!  

Meet Tamara Kennedy

Tamara has been immensely involved in franchising for the past 39 years, having a tremendous impact on every aspect of it.

Dating back to IFA events in 2012, Kennedy believes in premier stakeholders that support all franchises and represents them well in all ways. This being said, with a focus on Franchising and giving back.

“I think that we have an obligation to make sure people know we are doing good,” Kennedy said. “Sometimes, it makes sense to fly under the radar, but taking the opportunity to share, inspire and invite others into a mission to help others should be noticed and replicated.”

Not only is Franchising a business, but it’s about people and giving back to the community. Her role is focused on giving back because people’s hearts are in this, and she still thinks about when she heard this. 

She says Corporate America gets the headlines, but it’s the local owners that make the difference. It’s a personal mission, and franchising is a vehicle to spread good to the world and to live our mission by helping others one at a time.

She elaborated on how places like high schools, parks, and food banks are in need of constant help, and believes we have so much to give. She reflected on how winning was extraordinary, and tears were shed saying, “ChoiceLocal had made a difference in people’s lives that we will never meet or know.”

With that, she asked to envision what it’s like by taking a step backward and reflecting on what has been done and on the impact it has made. She cannot wait to see who wins next as she has witnessed it firsthand. 

In her closing remarks, she said, “I challenge franchisors, franchisees, and suppliers to do more to give back. I challenge others to match ChoiceLocals’ giveaway and reflect on the purpose that.”

“Celebrate publicly or jump on board to add to ChoiceLocal’s giveaway – remember the purpose for why we are in business – let’s see what we can do to help our communities collectively,” she said. “I challenge you to do more to give back to your community, to create a giveaway similar. There are no limits to compassion.”
