You don’t often hear parables being used in modern communication, but they can be memorable for sharing morals or principles. Don’t confuse them with fables – as in Aesop’s Fables – which generally employ talking animals, plants and other inanimate objects.

Parables contain human characters, and one of the most famous is in the Bible. It’s the Parable of the Two Sons, but you don’t have to be a parent or churchgoer to relate to it. It’s a story involving disobedience. We’ve all had that moment when as children we chose to disobey. It could have been at home or school while we did as we pleased without thinking of others. Essentially, we did our own thing.

By the time Jesus finished sharing that parable, he had connected the story to some hypocritical religious leaders. Their failure to respond to others had consequences. Namely, faith without action is worthless.

In addition, our founder, Joe Soltis, and his wife, Becky, created the Benjamin Isaac Foundation in honor of their late son. The foundation’s goal is to help kids who are in physical, emotional and spiritual need by donating 10 percent of our profits to assist 10,000 kids each year.

We know as employees we have an obligation to better the world around us, and we take that calling seriously.

Consider the person who declares to be a dedicated sports fan. He doesn’t sit on his hands, remain motionless and speak not a word. Rather, he wears his colors, cheers, screams, pumps his fists and high-fives friends. He’s involved. He’s alive with passion and enthusiasm. He gives of himself to a greater good – the success of his team.

We aim to give to others in the same way.
