Donation to Benefit Grieving Children Attending Life-Changing Summer Camps

CLEVELAND, OH – The Benjamin Isaac Foundation and ChoiceLocal are proud to announce a gift of $50,000 to Cornerstone of Hope, a grief counseling center for children and families in Northeast Ohio. The gift will benefit Cornerstone’s four summer grief camps which provide support for children who have lost a loved one at no cost to the grieving families.

Cornerstone of Hope was founded in 2003 and since that time has provided comprehensive grief support to over 30,000 adults, teens, and children. Each year, Cornerstone’s summer grief camps serve around 200 children, giving them a safe space to cope with their loss while participating in therapies such as art and music, as well as traditional camp activities like sports and field trips.

In particular, Cornerstone’s Camp Heroes is dedicated to serving children in the City of Cleveland who have lost a loved one, sometimes in a traumatic way. The camps are designed to help children learn skills to cope with their grief and gain a renewed sense of hope.

“With the generous support from ChoiceLocal in honor of Benjamin Isaac Soltis, hundreds of grieving children will be able to attend life-changing summer camps led by professionals at Cornerstone of Hope. This gift is a testament to the mission of the Soltis Family that all life matters and can make an impact regardless of how long that person lived. We join their family’s efforts to ‘help others’ through their son’s memory,” said Mark Tripodi, CEO Cornerstone of Hope.

ChoiceLocal is a fast-growing franchise marketing firm based out of Cleveland, OH, that specializes in digital marketing. The Benjamin Isaac Foundation was established after the August 2012 death of the unborn son of Joe & Becky Soltis, owners of ChoiceLocal. Out of Ben’s death Joe and Becky founded ChoiceLocal with the stated mission of “Help Others.” The Benjamin Isaac Foundation receives 10% of ChoiceLocal’s annual profits, which it utilizes to help children and families around the world.

“After Ben’s passing, our family struggled with how to connect with him, move forward without him; how to love him and how to feel his love. Our living children searched for a way to have a relationship with him even if he wasn’t physically with them,” said Becky Soltis, Co-Founder of ChoiceLocal, “Love and sadness exuded from their hearts and spirits. It is only natural for our family to see that there are other children who need similar support. Cornerstone of Hope can help these children find a support group and a way to express or process the love that they have and the relationship with their loved ones that is now very different.”

“When I met with Joe and Becky Soltis, I could feel their desire to do something special and significant for the grieving children in Northeast Ohio,” said Tripodi. “When they made the call to inform me of their gift level, I simply started to cry. I couldn’t wait to relay the information to our staff who work with those who grieve each and every day. To say that our entire organization was ecstatic would be an understatement! I am humbled and grateful to receive such amazing support for our camp programs.”

This gift from the Benjamin Isaac Foundation will support these critical grief camps over the next four years.
